Need to escape for a little while?
Come with me.

Explore an Island Nature Preserve
Ever wondered what it’s like to live on a barrier island with no cars, restaurants, or shops? Where there are more critters than human beings and you have to take a ferry to get there? Read about my discoveries on Dispatches from Dewees Island.

Discover Montana’s Wilderness
Come to the wilds of Montana, just outside Glacier National Park. Out here there are no car alarms or sirens. Just the hoot of the owl and the howl of the wolf. Get Postcards from Polebridge and see what it’s like to live in the wilderness.

Experience Faraway Lands
Sit back and dream about your next adventure, and I’ll tell you all that went wrong on ours. Many of these travel tales unfurl in serial form, so read them in order and enjoy the photography at Postmarks: Tales of Travel from Around the World.

About Me
For twenty years I edited manuscripts for university presses. But editing was never what I really wanted to do. What I really wanted to do was see the world and write. I’ve been fortunate enough to make that dream come true, and I want to share it with you. In addition to these blogs, my work has been published in various online journals and print anthologies, including Bright Bones: An Anthology of Contemporary Montana Writing (Open Country Press, 2018) and Burgers and Barrooms: Poems and Stories (Main Street Rag, 2017). When I’m not wandering the planet, I live with my husband (the primary photographer of my blogs) and two cats in Polebridge, Montana, and Brooklyn, New York.
